These tarts use my recipe for a simple sweet dough, which I've included on this page.

Ingredients
-
sweet dough (recipe below)
-
3 eggs, lightly beaten
-
2/3 c sugar
-
¼ c melted butter, cooled
-
3 tbsp flour
-
1 c buttermilk
-
zest from 1 large orange
-
½ tsp vanilla
-
1/8 tsp nutmeg (or any other spice you prefer)
-
1/8 tsp salt
-
2 c fresh cranberries (if frozen thaw first)
-
½ c toasted, finely chopped almonds or pecans
-
½ lb butter
-
½ c sugar
-
1 egg
-
2 ½ c flour
Sweet Dough
Directions
Roll the sweet dough pastry to fit a 9" pan with a removable bottom, or a regular pie pan. I used small ones for individual servings, it made 12. If necessary refrigerate until ready to fill.
Whisk eggs, sugar butter and flour until combined. Stir in the buttermilk, cranberries, zest, vanilla, nutmeg and salt.
Place the prepared crust in onto a parchment lined pan. Pour the filling into the crust. Sprinkle the chopped nuts around the outside edge of the filling.
Bake at 325°F for about 45 minutes or until set. Decrease the time if using small pans. Let cool completely and remove from pan.
Sweet Dough
In a stand mixer mix the butter and sugar until well combined. Add the egg and mix. Add the flour and mix well.
