Started in 1976, Foodsmiths now occupies over 6,500 sq. ft. of retail space, offering locally sourced food as well as Canadian and International brands. Our focus is as Local, Canadian and Ethical as possible, helping people support their healthy lifestyles. Here is the perfect summing up of our company by one of our customers:
"Awesome health food store like nowhere else! Fresh produce, as locally sourced as possible, bakery, prepared foods, coffee beans or by the cup, dairy section, Birkenstocks, gluten-free aisle, cheese island, bulk foods, and then a huge section for supplements. And more and more that you will find. Capable professional staff and a loyalty programme to encourage you to return. Love it!"
We love you too!
Community and Charities
We proudly support these important initiatives, local charities, and events:
BYOB - Bring Your Own Bag Donation Program
We donate 5¢ for every re-usable bag you bring in that saves the use of a new plastic bag. We also have a 5¢ Charity Charge for every new plastic bag used. All proceeds go to our local Charity of the Month.
Empty Bowls Fundraiser
Partnering with local Perth Empty Bowls, and with the generous support of suppliers, we create a delicious meal to fill locally handcrafted and unique ceramic bowls, which are set up in the store throughout the month of March prior to the event and can be purchased for $25. All proceeds go to local sustainable food programs.
Weekly Food DonationsFoodsmiths annually contributes over $28,000 worth of food to local food banks on a regular weekly basis.
Foodsmiths Environmental Stewardship
Supplement Bottle Recycling Program
To encourage the recycling of empty supplement bottles, Foodsmiths offers a 50¢ discount towards the purchase of a bottle of supplements for every empty bottle brought back to our store.
Low Environmental Impact
We source bio-friendly packaging and re-use packaging to send products to our mail order customers.
No Waste Produce Dept.
We donate consumable fruit, vegetables, dairy and groceries to local food banks, offer older produce to local farmers to feed their livestock, and compost.
We use energy-efficient lighting, and our hot water heating is supplemented by roof top solar panels.
