Kietha's Kandy

by Marilyn

This is a family recipe, but I never was good at keeping secrets so here it is!

In a big bowl mix together...

  • 8 cups icing sugar from our bulk bins
  • 1 can condensed milk
  • 10 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons local bulk honey

Put it together...

Use your nice clean hands to mix this together. It will form a soft dough consistency. At this point you can divide the dough into 6 or 8 smaller balls. Turn on to a work surface dusted with icing sugar. Make each ball into the flavour of your choice by adding a couple drops of flavoured extract (such as our Simply Organic Extracts in lots of flavours, like Orange, Peppermint, Almond, Lemon or our bulk Vanilla). Add to the dough and knead it in, then taste to determine if you need another drop or two. If you want peanut butter flavour, add 2 tbsps of our bulk crunchy peanut butter and work it in, then taste. We like it very peanutty, so we use 4 tbsps and it doesn't affect the texture of the dough, but if you find your dough getting too sticky just dust it with more icing sugar.

Dipping...

In a double boiler over simmering water melt

    • 2 cups pure semi-sweet chocolate chips from our bulk bins

When the chocolate is completely melted and smooth you can start dipping. Drop one ball at a time then with two forks fish the chocolate out, put it on wax paper and dot the top with something for decoration, like an almond, cashew, coconut, crushed peanuts, glazed cherries, candy, etc. Let dry completely and store in an air tight container in a cool place.
