Foodsmiths Recipes — summer RSS

Ontario peaches, sweet and juicy, can be enjoyed in so many different ways. I love them on a salad, in muffins or pies, or in a serving of warm peach cobbler.

A great base for a tasty summer salad is using a cooked grain. Quinoa, bulgur or farro are high in protein and fiber and the starting point for a healthy, filling lunch or side dish with grilled meat or chicken.

This is a great side dish with grilled chicken, steak or shrimp. If you would like to keep it meat free you could add some chickpeas or fresh mozzarella for some protein.

Ontario produce season is the best time of year. Hard to not fill your fridge with all the great selection.  I decided to combine blackberries and nectarines into a crisp using the topping recipe from my Mom's Apple Crisp. Always a family favourite.
